Father Christmas

I am pleased to introduce my fourth edition in my Signature Collection Santa series.  Father Christmas is sure to make a wonderful addition to your Santa collection.  This ornament is mouth-blown and hand painted in Poland; making each ornament a one-of-a-kind.  Measures: 4W X 6.5H X 2.75D 

Father Christmas, not to be confused with the red-and-white suited Santa Claus, whose origins are American and date back to the 1800’s; Father Christmas is of European origin and hails back to Mummers’ Plays of the middle ages. 

Father Christmas claims to be Santa’s great-great-great grandfather, he admits with a chuckle…there is a family resemblance.  As he strokes his long, flowing white beard Father Christmas says, “now I take orders for presents, Santa does the deliveries, the last time I tried to climb down a chimney I got stuck!” 

Adults are fascinated by the story of Father Christmas, children are in awe!  It is a mystery how Father Christmas (Santa Claus) can deliver presents to 700 million children in one night, fit down the chimney and arrive without being seen or heard. 

Santa and his reindeer zoom around the world at more than 200,000 times faster than the speed of light, the laws of physics explain why Father Christmas (Santa Claus) is rarely seen by children while delivering presents. 

If children hear a bang on Christmas eve, it may or may not be the sound of Santa dropping his presents, landing on the roof in his sleigh, or sliding down the chimney with a plop; Santa’s reindeer could have broken the speed of sound, resulting in a “sonic boom.” 

The next time you wonder how does Santa manage to reach these phenomenal speeds, and make all his deliveries on time…Well, it’s MAGIC!
