Product Description

In 2009, the two oldest fine art galleries on the lakeshore merged into one and continues to offer a wide selection of art including paintings, sculpture, ceramics, blown glass and prints.

Button Gallery moved to the Douglas lakeshore in June, 1966 from Walton Street in Chicago. W. Russell Button & Associates purchased the Chicago branch of Ackerman & Sons (founded 1783 in London) during the 1930's. Arthur Frederick and Carl Brainard purchased the gallery in 1985. Mr. Brainard retired in 1993 and the gallery continues under the proprietorship of Arthur Frederick. Eight years ago, it was time to bid a fond farewell to the Center Street location with its beautiful gardens and share the River Guild building with Joyce Petter.

Joyce Petter began her gallery as PRAJNA in Saugatuck in 1973 and then renovated the Carl Hoerman designed building in Douglas as her new site in 1993. In 2007, Mrs. Petter retired and the galleries are now one featuring over 10,000 sq. ft. of show space plus an outdoor sculpture garden.

The gallery represents over 80 artists both regional and national in reputation.  We look forward to your visiting the gallery on your next trip to the Saugatuck-Douglas area. We know you will not be disappointed!

Klassics by Kurtis, Inc. is proud to have been chosen to work in conjunction with the Douglas, Michigan DDA which has selected various buildings in the city to replicate as 3D glass ornaments which are offered not only to the locals but also to the thousands of tourists that flock to their city each year.  The fund raising activities have helped to defray the cost of the beautification of the city, and we are very pleased to be a part of that endeavor.  This ornament measures:  2 1/4H X 4W X 3D  MOUTH BLOWN AND HAND PAINTED IN POLAND
